Blue Fern Travel’s Cherry Blossom Events Roundup
The National Park Service predicts DC’s favorite cherry blossom trees are set to blossom the first week of April and with so many fun ways to explore, we put together a roundup of some fun Cherry Blossom centric events so you can get your bloom on!
Update your wardrobe for spring in DC
Dress the part with some cherry blossom-themed apparel and home goods. A few of our favorites are the perfect mantra “Business is Bloomin” t-shirt from Good Letters Design, the tote bag ready for your springtime shopping from All Very Goods, and this adorable face mask from The Neighborgoods!
Drink up some history…literally.
Our virtual Cherry Blossom Cocktails Class gives you the history lesson you’ll want to take! Learn how to make 2 seasonally inspired cocktails and the history behind DC’s signature cocktail and how we got our favorite trees in the first place! These events are held every Thursday throughout The Cherry Blossom Festival from 7pm to 8:30pm and can be booked private if you want us all to yourselves!
Take to the skies with the kite festival
The National Cherry Blossom Festival’s Kite Fly is soaring off The National Mall and heading to your own backyard. Learn how to create your own kite at home (perfect activity for the kids or just kids-at-heart) and let them take flight on March 27th and 28th.
Hunt for cherry blossoms throughout the District
The National Cherry Blossom Festival has some amazing programming set for this year to be enjoyed safely. They’re turning the traditional parade into a city wide event with their Porch Parade where residents will decorate their homes and businesses with a cherry blossom theme. And keep an eye out for their Art in Bloom statues blooming around the DC area! 26 local artists designed each piece perfectly for your photo ops!
Support local and get some amazing dining deals
Rediscover an old faithful or find a new favorite with our Cherry Blossom Flavor Pass! Each booklet gives you exclusive discounts at some of our favorite spots around DC and Alexandria. It’s perfect to use for families, friends, or a solo adventure around the area.
Whether you’re a life-long Washingtonian or a newcomer, I think we can all agree spring in DC is a magical time.
Remember to celebrate and explore the city, safely. And let’s enjoy it before the humidity returns.
